Utrecht, a Dutch team that plays in the Eredivisie, was formed on July 1, 1970 through the merging of VV DOS, USV Elinkwijk, and Velox. It is worth mentioning that VV DOS was successful in winning the Eredivisie championship in 1958.

On the contrary, Utrecht has not yet claimed the national title, however they have secured three KNVB Cup victories (1984/85, 2002/03, 2003/04). Leo van Veen holds the record for most goals scored in the club’s history with 153. The team’s home uniform consists of white and red shirts, while blue is the prominent color of their away jersey.

Due to the hooligan clashes, Utrecht have a rivalry with Dutch giants Ajax. The games between the two clubs have always been very tense on the field. Utrecht welcome their rivals at Stadion Galgenwaard, the venue which can hold up to 23,750 people. The stadium was opened back in May 1936.
