Our prediction for this Copa America match:

Brazil

Brazil

Costa Rica

Costa Rica

Following a slim 1-1 draw with USA, Brazil will be aiming to kick off their 2024 Copa America campaign in style when they face Costa Rica at SoFi Stadium. The Selecao are seen as one of the main favourites to win the silverware and we are positive that they will go all guns blazing at los Ticos in their opener. As all Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo, Bruno Guimaraes, and Palmeiras rising star Endrick made the cut, home win should definitely be considered.

Costa Rica, meanwhile, defeated both Saint Kitts and Nevis (4-0) and Grenada (3-0) in the World Cup qualifiers, but they will have a mountain to climb against Brazil. As David faces Goliath in Inglewood, anything but a routine home win would be a big surprise. Experienced goalkeeper Keylor Navas has been omitted, but key player Joel Campbell made the cut. Francisco Calvo will be yet another man to watch in the away team.

Highlighted Player (Joel Campbell):

Joel Campbell

Joel Campbell is a highly rated 23-year-old versatile forward who plays for the English Premier League club Arsenal and the Costa Rica national team. His versatility has seen him operating as a forward or on the wings. Campbell often hogs the headlines with his fast-paced runs on the wings and breathtaking goals.

He was highly rated by Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger and was snapped up as a teenager in 2011 but spent his first three seasons at the club on loan at three different clubs. His competitive debut at Arsenal came only in 2014 but has become a regular with the national squad. He has earned 55 caps already and has 11 goals to his credit in national colors.

He has already played in CONCACAF Gold Cup and Copa America. But it is his success as a key member of the 2014 FIFA World Cup quarter-final reaching squad that is a highlight of his career so far.

Highlighted Team (Brazil):

Brazil

One of the most decorated teams in world football, Selecao have also been regarded as one of the most attractive and exciting teams with glowing reputation preceding them. Members of the CONMEBOL confederation, Brazil have played their first international in 1914 losing to bitter rivals Argentina with a comfortable 3-0 margin.

Brazil is the most successful nation in the FIFA World Cup with five championship title to their name. However, Selecao failed to advance past the quarter-finals of the last two tournaments last winning their World Cup in 2002. Their last title was the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup and the star-studded team will be looking to get back to winning ways at this year’s historic Copa America Centenario in the United States.

Legendary Pele is Brazil’s top scorer with 77 goals to his name, while the team’s biggest star of the modern era Barcelona forward Neymar is sitting in fifth place having so far netted 46.
