The meat snack trays that were sold at Sam’s Club and later recalled have been connected to 24 cases of salmonella poisoning.

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported on Friday that 24 individuals from 14 states have become ill, with five requiring hospitalization, due to salmonella contamination from meat snack trays that were recalled and sold at certain Sam’s Club locations.

This week, Fratelli Beretta USA, a company based in New Jersey that processes meat, issued a recall for over 11,000 pounds of Busseto Foods brand ready-to-eat charcuterie meat products due to potential contamination with salmonella.

The meat trays are marked as “Bussetto Food Charcuterie Sampler Prosciutto, Sweet Soppressata and Dry Copa,” with the lot number LO75330300 and a best-by date of April 27. They have establishment numbers EST. 7543B within the U.S. Department of Agriculture mark of inspection and EST. #47967 on the packaging.

Between November 20, 2023 and December 18, 2023, there were reports of illnesses. Salmonella infections can pose a risk for infants, elderly individuals, and those with compromised immune systems.

The CDC advised consumers to inspect their refrigerators for these items and either bring them back to the store or dispose of them.
