The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has increased their cautionary statement regarding charcuterie meat trays due to a doubling of reported cases of salmonella infection.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is issuing a broader alert regarding salmonella contamination linked to charcuterie meat snacks trays available at Sam’s Club and Costco retail locations.

According to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 47 individuals in 22 states have become ill and 10 have required hospitalization after consuming meats from Busseto and Fratelli Beretta.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) had previously issued a warning regarding a specific batch of Busseto brand charcuterie sampler trays. However, the agency is now advising both retailers and consumers to refrain from consuming, serving, or selling any batches of these products. This includes the Busseto charcuterie sampler sold at Sam’s Club and the Fratelli Beretta brand Antipasto Gran Beretta products sold at Costco.

The meat trays are sold in pairs and contain prosciutto, sweet soppressata, and either dry coppa or black pepper-coated dry salami. They also include Italian dry salami, dry coppa, and prosciutto.

In certain cases, Salmonella contamination can lead to serious sickness, especially in young children, elderly individuals, and those with compromised immune systems. In rare instances, this bacterial infection can result in death.
