Kate and William have been deeply touched by the overwhelming support they received after the public learned about Princess Diana’s battle with cancer.
The announcement of Kate, the Princess of Wales, and her husband, Prince William, concerning her cancer diagnosis has sparked an outpouring of support and warmth from the public. They are reportedly deeply touched by the immense show of love and tributes from people all around the globe.
Following major abdominal surgery, Kate released a candid video on Friday revealing her undergoing chemotherapy for cancer. This came after weeks of speculation on social media about her health and well-being. The princess, who is 42 years old, shared that the diagnosis came as a “huge shock” and she is currently in the early stages of preventative chemotherapy.
“The messages of kindness from individuals in the United Kingdom, Commonwealth, and around the globe in response to Her Royal Highness’ message have greatly touched both the prince and princess,” stated a spokesperson for Kensington Palace. “The overwhelming warmth and support from the public has deeply moved them, and they are appreciative of the understanding shown towards their desire for privacy during this time.”
There has been a widespread display of solidarity, with even American President Joe Biden and King Charles III receiving treatment for cancer, which was discovered during treatment for an enlarged prostate. Neither Kate nor the king have disclosed the specific type or stage of their cancer treatment.
Charles’ nephew, Peter Phillips, said the king is “frustrated” that his recovery is taking longer than “he would want it to,” but that he was in “good spirits” and “pushing” his staff to be able to return to his duties after beginning his treatment for cancer last month.
“I believe he is immensely frustrated,” stated Phillips, the nephew of Prince Charles through his sister Princess Anne, in an interview with Sky News Australia. “He is hindered in pursuing everything he wishes to accomplish. However, he remains practical and acknowledges that he must prioritize his own well-being for a period of time.”
On Sunday, individuals still visited Kensington Palace, the primary London home of the royal family, and Windsor Castle, their preferred residence, to demonstrate their backing for the princess. Many also placed flowers as a tribute.
Prior to Friday, authorities had simply stated that the surgery Kate underwent in January was a triumph and her recovery would prevent her from fulfilling any royal obligations until April. As a result, there has been a surge of speculation surrounding the absence of the potential future queen, heightened by Kate’s admission that she made changes to an official photograph commemorating Mother’s Day in the United Kingdom earlier this month.
The picture, meant to reassure the community, caused a negative reaction after The Associated Press and other news outlets retracted it due to concerns of manipulation.
Despite the recent release of a video by The Sun and TMZ depicting Kate and William shopping near their residence, the negative coverage still persists.
Critics continued to voice their disapproval over the weekend for those who quickly come to far-fetched conclusions.
Paddy Harverson, formerly the designated representative for Kate and the Prince of Wales, stated that the scrutiny and demands concerning Kate’s well-being and current location prior to her public statement were the most intense he had ever experienced.
He stated that he believed Kate would have disclosed her cancer diagnosis in the same manner, regardless of any rumors.
He stated to the BBC that without the insanity and influence of social media, and without the mistake of the Mother’s Day photo, they would have still made the announcement on the last Friday before schools break up.
