There will be fireworks when CF Montreal and Vancouver Whitecaps go head to head in the Canadian derby at Saputo Stadium. Montreal suffered a 2-0 loss to New York City in the midweek fixture, but the fact that defeated Philadelphia Union in their last home game is giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of Sunday’s clash. Mason Toye remains in the recovery room, but he should be the only absentee in the home team.

The Whitecaps, on the other hand, have been showing signs of improvement of late, with the team beating both St Louis City and Minnesota United in the previous two MLS games. As CF Montreal failed to impress in the last league match, we are tempted to place our bets on the in-form visitors. Midfielder Andres Cubas is back from the international duty, while all Tristan Blackmon, Damir Kreilach, and Sam Adekugbe continue to miss out with injuries.

Vancouver began play in the USA top flight in 2011 and one year later they became the first Canadian outfit to book their place in the MLS Cup play-offs. Vancouver, though, did remarkably well to win the Canadian Championship in 2015, with the team beating Montreal Impact in the title game.

The Whitecaps are owned by Greg Kerfoot, Steve Luczo, Jeff Mallett and Steve Steve Nash, the former NBA star, and they play their home matches at BC Place.
