Our prediction for this Copa America match:

Uruguay

Uruguay

Brazil

Brazil

There will be fireworks when Uruguay and Brazil lock horns at Allegiant Stadium in the 2024 Copa America quarter-finals. Uruguay aim to keep their 100% record at the showpiece tournament in USA intact and they are surely capable of matching the Selecao in Sunday’s showdown. Pablo Quiroga rested several first-team regulars in the triumph over USA, but the 42-year-old tactician is going to field the best possible against Brazil. Toluca forward Maxi Araujo should miss out with injury.

Dorival Junior’s troops, on the other hand, booked their place in the quarter-finals thanks to a 1-1 draw with Colombia. As both Brazil and Uruguay are likely to adopt a cautious approach in this highly-anticipated clash, we are tempted to put our money on under 2.5 goals. Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior is banned for the match, with Palmeiras rising star Endrick likely to replace him in the starting XI.

Highlighted Player (Luis Suarez):

Luis Suarez

Luis Suarez is a controversial footballer who plays for La Liga side Barcelona as a striker. The Uruguayan forward moved to Europe in 2006, signing a deal with Groningen. After scoring 10 goals in 27 league appearances for the club in the 2006/2007 Eredivisie campaign, he joined Ajax at the end of the season. The prolific striker scored no less than 81 goals in 110 appearances for Ajax and, as a result, Liverpool chiefs decided to sign him on 31 January 2011.

Suarez became the club’s most expensive signing and he was producing thrilling performances with the Anfield outfit between 2011 and 2014. Liverpool were on the verge of winning the 2013/2014 Premier League trophy, but Steven Gerrard slipped in the decider against Chelsea and they eventually finished the season in second place in the standings.

In 2014 Suarez joined Barcelona and he was the top scorer in the 2015/2016 La Liga campaign. He won the 2013/2014 Premier League Golden Boot as well and in 2011 he clinched the Copa America trophy with Uruguay.

Highlighted Team (Brazil):

Brazil

One of the most decorated teams in world football, Selecao have also been regarded as one of the most attractive and exciting teams with glowing reputation preceding them. Members of the CONMEBOL confederation, Brazil have played their first international in 1914 losing to bitter rivals Argentina with a comfortable 3-0 margin.

Brazil is the most successful nation in the FIFA World Cup with five championship title to their name. However, Selecao failed to advance past the quarter-finals of the last two tournaments last winning their World Cup in 2002. Their last title was the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup and the star-studded team will be looking to get back to winning ways at this year’s historic Copa America Centenario in the United States.

Legendary Pele is Brazil’s top scorer with 77 goals to his name, while the team’s biggest star of the modern era Barcelona forward Neymar is sitting in fifth place having so far netted 46.
