Some people believe last month’s U.S. win over Pakistan in cricket is among the most unlikely upsets in the history of sports.
The World Cup match on June 6 captivated the attention of the world. NPR’s Juana Summers said it was like MLB’s Boston Red Sox losing to the AAA-affiliate Durham Bulls.
While the sport is popular internationally, it is not among the four major sports in North America: Football, basketball, soccer and hockey.
This week Church Street Park in Morrisville is hosting several Major League Cricket matches:
- 3:30 p.m. ET Friday: Seattle Orcas vs. MI New York
- 3 p.m. ET Saturday: MI New York vs. Washington Freedom
- 3:30 p.m. ET Monday: Texas Super Kings vs. Washington Freedom
- 3 p.m. ET Wednesday, July 10: Texas Super Kings vs. San Francisco Unicorns
- 3 p.m. ET Friday, July 12: Texas Super Kings vs. MI New York
- 3 p.m. ET Saturday, July 13: San Francisco Unicorns vs. Los Angeles Knight Riders
- 3:30 p.m. ET Sunday, July 14: Los Angeles Knight Riders vs. Washington Riders
- 3:30 p.m. ET Monday, July 15 : San Francisco Unicorns vs. Seattle Orcas
- 3 p.m. ET Wednesday, July 17: Los Angeles Knight Riders vs. Seattle Orcas
Ticket prices start at $30 per match. People can also spend $216 to see each match in Morrisville. Groups of 15-plus can receive special pricing by emailing [email protected] for more information.
Major League Cricket matches are also played at Grand Prairie Stadium in Grand Prairie, Texas.
