Four-time NBA All-Star Kemba Walker is joining the Charlotte Hornets coaching staff, the team announced Wednesday.

Walker, 34, will serve as the team’s player enhancement coach.

The news comes a day after Walker announced his retirement as a player.

Walker played eight seasons with Hornets during his career. It also included stints with the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks and Dallas Mavericks. He also played last season with AS Monaco as it won the French League Championship.

In 2011, the then-Charlotte Bobcats drafted Walker with the No. 9 overall pick.

Walker is the franchise’s all-time leader in points, 3-pointers, win shares and minutes played. He is top 10 in assists (second), steals (third), games played (third) and rebounds (eighth).

The Hornets announced their coaching staff on Wednesday to fill out the staff of new head coach Charles Lee.

Lamar Skeeter, Josh Longstaff, Chris Jent, Blaine Mueller, Ryan Frazier, Matt Hill and Jermaine Bucknor are assistants on Lee’s staff. The Hornets also hired Zach Peterson as assistant coach/director of player development.
