Gatorade POTY changes commitment after coaching change, will attend UNC

The 2024 N.C. Gatorade Player of the Year in baseball has a change of plans.

Grace Christian of Sanford’s Camron Seagraves was originally committed to Campbell, but had reopened his recruitment following the departure of former head coach Justin Haire to Ohio State. Seagraves announced on X on Monday that he will be enrolling at UNC instead.

The 6-foot-3, 170-pound righty is ranked one of the top pitching prospects in the country. He played his first three years of high school at Richmond High in Rockingham. With the Crusaders, Seagraves helped the team finish with a 20-7 record and N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 3A state championship and top-10 ranking in the final HSOT top 25.

Seagraves was 8-2 on the mound, including one no-hitter. He struck out 127 batters in 65.1 innings pitched. Opponents batted just .116 against Seagraves while he compiled a 1.71 ERA.
