Hoggard 3-star OL Michael Gibbs commits to NC State

On Sunday, NC State gained the commitment of one of its highest priority prospects in the class of 2025. Michael Gibbs, from Hoggard High School in Wilmington, announced that he’s chosen to attend the university and play for the Wolfpack.

Gibbs announced his decision on his social media accounts. The rising senior is listed at 6-foot-4 and 300 pounds. He reportedly has a 6-foot-7 wingspan and his hands reportedly measure at 10 3/8 inches. NC State will have options of where it can play Gibbs on the offensive line due to his versatile size.

He chose the Wolfpack out of a top 5 that also included Duke, Penn State, Virginia, and Virginia Tech. He is a consensus 3-star prospect, according to the recruiting services 247Sports, ESPN, On3, and Rivals. He is ranked as high as the No. 18 class of 2025 prospect in North Carolina (by ESPN) and as low as the No. 27 rising senior in N.C. (Rivals).

Gibbs has already played in a game at NC State’s Carter-Finley Stadium. Gibbs helped Hoggard to reach last year’s N.C. High School Athletic Association’s 4A state championship game, which was played at the home of the Wolfpack. Hoggard lost the state championship by a score of 56-21. The Vikings finished the season with an overall record of 14-2.

The offensive lineman’s performance throughout the season landed him a spot on the 2023 HighSchoolOT All-State Football Team as a Third Team selection.

The prospect also received offers from Air Force, Georgia Southern, Miami (OH), USF, Elon, Liberty, Charlotte, App State, Old Dominion, East Carolina, and Coastal Carolina, which was first to pull the trigger.
