The 2024 NHL Draft has come to an end for the Carolina Hurricanes. 10 players, three trades and the hockey offseason is truly underway.

Three times when Carolina was on the clock, the Hurricanes traded picks. It started with Friday night, when the Hurricanes traded pick No. 27 to the Chicago Blackhawks for picks No. 34 and 50 in the second round.

The Hurricanes used those two picks for players, Dominik Badinka, a defenseman out of the Swedish Hockey League and Nikita Artamonov, a winger out of the Kontinental Hockey League in Russia.

Then, with pick No. 60 tee’d up and ready to go, the Canes traded it to former general manager Don Waddell and the Columbus Blue Jackets for pick No. 69 overall in the third round and pick No. 133 overall in the fifth round.

With the 69th pick, the Carolina Hurricanes went defenseman again, this time Noel Fransen, who plays with Farjestad Jr., part of the Swedish Junior Hockey League.

Then, for the third time this NHL Draft, the Hurricanes decided on a trade. Carolina sent pick No. 92 overall in the third round to the Blackhawks in exchange for Chicago’s 2025 third round pick.

This was the first NHL Draft for the Carolina Hurricanes with Eric Tulsky as the General Manager, however Tulsky has been with the organization for the past 10 seasons.
