Colombia vs Costa Rica Prediction & Betting Tips | 28/06/2024 | Football

Our prediction for this Copa America match:

Colombia

Colombia

Costa Rica

Costa Rica

Colombia will look to build on a 2-1 win over Paraguay when they take on Costa Rica at State Farm Stadium in their second group game. Experienced midfielder James Rodriguez provided two assists for his teammates in the 2024 Copa America opener, but a man to keep an eye on in the home team will be pacey Liverpool winger Luis Diaz. Both Jhon Lucumi and Jefferson Lerma are major doubts after the duo limped off with injuries in the triumph over La Albirroja.

Los Ticos, on the other hand, did remarkably well to hold star-studded Brazil to a goalless draw at SoFi Stadium. Colombia, though, had a number of clear-cut opportunities to score in the opening match of their Copa America campaign, which is probably the main reason why home win should be considered. There are no fresh injury worries in the away team, but both Calvo and Ugalde are one yellow card away from suspension.

Highlighted Player (Joel Campbell):

Joel Campbell

Joel Campbell is a highly rated 23-year-old versatile forward who plays for the English Premier League club Arsenal and the Costa Rica national team. His versatility has seen him operating as a forward or on the wings. Campbell often hogs the headlines with his fast-paced runs on the wings and breathtaking goals.

He was highly rated by Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger and was snapped up as a teenager in 2011 but spent his first three seasons at the club on loan at three different clubs. His competitive debut at Arsenal came only in 2014 but has become a regular with the national squad. He has earned 55 caps already and has 11 goals to his credit in national colors.

He has already played in CONCACAF Gold Cup and Copa America. But it is his success as a key member of the 2014 FIFA World Cup quarter-final reaching squad that is a highlight of his career so far.

Highlighted Team (Colombia):

Colombia

Seleccion de futbol Colombia has stepped on to the international scene in 1938 with its competitive debut against Mexico. Colombia has in recent years become a national symbol of strength representing country’s efforts to fight the negative reputation.

Passionate about their football team, Colombians have formed a huge fan base which enjoyed in their team’s impressive run to the 2014 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals at the competition in which Real Madrid star James Rodriguez was awarded the Golden Boot for most goals and the Best Goal of the Tournament awards. Jose Pekerman’s team has also been named the Fair Play team at the same event.

The fans were pretty disappointed to see their team reach the quarter-final stage at the 2015 Copa America though as Colombia crashed out in disappointing fashion losing to Argentina after a penalty kick. Radamel Falcao remains the most prominent star of the current team despite his poor spells with Manchester United and Chelsea respectively. Monaco striker is also the team’s top scorer with 25 goals added to his name.
