Providence Day rising junior QB Zaid Lott commits to UNC

Providence Day rising junior Zaid Lott announced his commitment to UNC on Monday afternoon.

Lott made the announcement on X, stating that he is “extremely blessed to finally say I am home!”

Standing at 6-foot-4 and 190 pounds, Lott is a member of the Class of 2026. He played behind Jadyn Davis the last two seasons at Providence Day. Davis is now playing quarterback at Michigan.

In limited action last fall, Lott completed 21-of-26 passes for 331 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. He also rushed for two touchdowns.

According to Rivals.com, Lott is a three-star prospect and the No. 17 player from the Class of 2026 in North Carolina. He is the first commitment from the Class of 2026 for UNC.

Lott is expected to be the starting quarterback at Providence Day this season. The Chargers are the three-time N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association Division I state champions.

Lott has also played basketball at Providence Day.

In addition to UNC, Lott considered offers from Boston College, Campbell, Charlotte, Florida State, Gardner Webb, and NC State.

Providence Day will open the football season on Aug. 16 with a home game against Trinity Christian.
