Hear from 26 of the top players at UNC’s King of the Hill 7-on-7

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s football program hosts a series of King of the Hill 7-on-7 events each June.

This year, HighSchoolOT has been grabbing player interviews from these events in addition to the highlights and pictures that we produce.

Here is a set of interviews with top players from the Wednesday, June 19 and the Thursday, June 20 sessions.

Faizon Brandon, junior QB, Grimsley

Hawke Shoenfeld, senior QB, Middle Creek

Middle Creek High School senior quarterback Hawke Shoenfeld spoke with HighSchoolOT to preview the 2024 season for the Mustangs. Shoenfeld threw for over 2,600 yards and 24 touchdowns as a junior. He shared what his plan has been to improve those numbers.

Nas Session, senior WR, Hoggard

Hoggard High School wideout Aniziyon Session spoke with HighSchoolOT to preview his senior season. Session holds three Division I offers and a Division II offer so far. He had a huge junior season with 1,000 yards and 15 touchdowns.

Derrick Jones, junior OLB, Jack Britt

Jack Britt High School linebacker Derrick Jones spoke with HighSchoolOT to preview the 2024 season, his third in high school. Jones is coming off of a huge sophomore season that saw him rack up 83 total tackles, six tackles for a loss, two sacks, and a blocked field goal.

Chandler Telfaire, senior LT, Enloe

Enloe High School senior left tackle Chandler Telfaire spoke with HighSchoolOT to preview his 2024 season, the last of his high school career. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound blocker with an 81-inch wingspan has accumulated eight offers so far thanks to his impressive film and long frame.

Will Miller, senior Safety, Pinecrest

Pinecrest High School safety Will Miller spoke with HighSchoolOT to preview his senior season. Miller played the spot for the first time as a junior and has since earned two offers. He compiled 58 total tackles, two sacks, six interceptions, and nine pass breakups.

Zeus Batts, senior WR, New Hanover

New Hanover High School senior Zymir Batts spoke with HighSchoolOT to preview the 2024 football season. Also a prolific basketball player, Batts has 724 yards and sx touchdowns as a wide receiver.

Chris Morton, senior DE, New Hanover

New Hanover High School senior defensive end Chris Morton spoke with HighSchoolOT to preview the 2024 season, his final year with the Wildcats. Morton overcame a bad injury during his freshman year. As a junior, he had 68 tackles, 12.5 tackles for a loss, and 4.5 sacks.
