Our prediction for this Euro 2024 match:

Switzerland

Switzerland

Germany

Germany

Germany will be aiming to keep their 100% record in Group A intact when they take on Switzerland in their last group game. The EURO 2024 hosts proved their worth in back-to-back wins over Scotland (5-1) and Hungary (2-0), but bear in mind that Julian Nagelsmann is likely to mix the squad against the Rossocrociati. All Emre Can, Leroy Sane, and Niclas Fullkrug are pushing for a start, while experienced midfielder Toni Kroos should be rested.

Switzerland, on the other hand, are with one foot in the knockout stages as they have a better goal difference than third-place Scotland and, no doubt, they would be happy with one point from Sunday’s clash. As Germany will clinch top position in Group A with a draw as well, the share of spoils is on the horizon. Both Denis Zakaria and Steven Zuber are sidelined with injuries, speaking of the nominal hosts.

Highlighted Player (Leroy Sane):

Leroy Sane

Leroy Sane began his senior career at Schalke 04. The pacey winger, who is capable of playing as attacking midfielder as well, made his debut for die Knappen on 20 April, 2014 against Stuttgart. Sane came as a substitute in the second half of the match, replacing Max Mayer 13 minutes before the final whistle.

He scored 11 goals in 47 league appearances for Schalke and on 2 August, 2016 he signed a deal with big-spending Premier League side Manchester City. The former Schalke footballer joined the Citizens on a five-year deal for a fee of £37 million. Sane was born in Essen on 11 January, 1996, but his father is Senegalese.

Souleymane Sane used to play for the Senegalese national football team in the past, while his mother Regina Weber was a rhythmic gymnast. Speaking of his international career, Leroy Sane has 6 caps for Germany U21 and he made his debut for the senior team on 13 November, 2015 in a 2-0 loss to France.

Highlighted Team (Switzerland):

Switzerland

While missing the first ever World Cup, Switzerland played at next four, reaching the quarter-finals on three occasions, but they were unable to repeat the success in next six appearances. Nati reached the first knockout stage in 1994, 2006 and 2014, but they couldn’t make the next step.

When it comes to their European Championship appearances, the situation is even worse, as the team only qualified for the 1996, 2004 and 2016 finals, while they automatically qualified for the 2008 tournament together with co-hosts Austria. Switzerland national team of late have profited from the multicultural environment, as they appear to have closed the gap behind top European sides and also adopted a more adventurous style of play.

The new generation is probably the most talented yet, with players like Xherdan Shaqiri, Granit Xhaka, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Ricardo Rodriguez and Valon Behrami all held in high regard. Nati now have a unique chance to try and reach the closing stages of a major tournament as their key men are either at their peak or will be there in the next couple of years.
