West Cabarrus senior Drew Waller is Gatorade NC Boys Soccer Player of the Year

West Cabarrus senior Drew Waller has been named the Gatorade North Carolina Boys Soccer Player of the Year, the organization announced on Friday morning.

Waller is a 6-foot-2, 185-pound forward who helped West Cabarrus to a 17-7-1 record this fall. It was the best season in West Cabarrus’ short school history, which resulted in an appearance in the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A state playoffs.

As a senior, Waller recorded 43 goals and 16 assists in 25 games played. He averaged 1.72 goals per. game for the Wolverines.

His performance earned Waller the N.C. Soccer Coaches Association Player of the Year award. He was also selected to the HighSchoolOT All-State Team and the United Soccer Coaches All-American team.

Waller holds a 3.83 grade point averaged and is a member of the National Honor Society.

In the community, Waller has volunteered with a local middle school, picking up trash near campus. He has also helped elementary school teachers in their classrooms.

Waller will play college soccer in Chapel Hill for UNC.
