Tiger Woods will not make the cut at the 2024 U.S. Open.

The 48-year-old golfer shot 7-over par after Friday.

Woods played Thursday and Friday at Pinehurst for the first time since the 2005 U.S. Open.

On Friday, Woods finished his second round with a bar on the 18th hole. He shot a 74 on Thursday and a 73 on Friday.

“It was probably the highest score I could’ve possibly shot today,” Woods said. “I had a lot of good shots that just didn’t quite go my way, or I had good putts, and then I put myself in a couple bad spots with some bad lag putts.”

It could be Woods’ last appearance at Pinehurst No. 2. The U.S. Open is not due to return to Pinehurst until 2029.

“In order to win a golf tournament, you have to make the cut,” Woods said.

A reporter asked Woods if he thought about whether it would be his last U.S. Open ever.

“As far as my last … U.S. Open Championship, I don’t know what that is,” Woods said. “It may or may not be.”

The heat index was pushing 100 degrees Fahrenheit by mid-afternoon. Hundreds of people received treatment for heat-related illnesses.
