Havelock 3-star Jonathan Williams commits to East Carolina
East Carolina University’s football program will keep a top recruit form Eastern North Carolina home.
Havelock High School 3-star wide receiver/defensive back Jonathan Williams committed to the Pirates on Saturday. He announced his decision on his X account at 11:20 a.m.
Over his recruitment, Williams was verbally offered by Boston College, ECU, App State, Coastal Carolina, Charlotte, Liberty, Bethune-Cookman, UConn, West Virginia, Old Dominion, James Madison, Elon, Howard, and Bryant.
Williams is considered a 3-star prospect by Rivals, which has him ranked as the No. 22 class of 2025 prospect from North Carolina.
He is listed at 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds. He projects as a wide receiver at the next level, but he has made a name at Havelock doing a bit of everything.
In 2023, Williams rushed for 1,333 yards and 16 touchdowns on just 129 carries. As a passer, he completed 80 of his 134 passing attempts for 995 yards, nine touchdowns, and six interceptions. He caught 14 passes for 123 yards and a touchdown.
As a sophomore, Williams caught 27 passes for 694 yards and eight touchdowns. Williams could go back to more snaps at receiver now that Havelock has a transfer quarterback in named Jaylen Hewitt.
Havelock finished the 2023 season with a 13-1 overall record. The Rams fell to Northern Nash in the fourth round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association’s 3A East playoffs by a score of 42-21.
