Northwest Cabarrus tackle Nolan Irwin commits to Elon

Elon picked up a big commitment from a big in-state offensive lineman on Saturday night.

Nolan Irwin, of Northwest Cabarrus High School, announced his pledge to the Phoenix on his X account.

Irwin is a big 6-foot-6, 290-pound offensive tackle. He plays right tackle for the Trojans. Irwin is a good mover for his size and shows a love for finishing off his blocks.

His first offer came from Liberty University in November. Since then, Irwin was offered by Charlotte, Temple, Marshall, Elon, Cornell, Dartmouth, Miami (OH), Columbia, Bucknell, Yale, Austin Peay, Wofford, Lafayette, William & Mary, Brown, Bryant, Air Force, Maine, Navy, Army, Delaware, UMass, and Richmond.

Northwest Cabarrus finished the 2023 season with a 10-2 overall record. The Trojans advanced to the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association’s 3A West playoffs, where they fell to South Piedmont 3A Conference rival Jay M. Robinson by a score of 27-17.
