Independence basketball player Kamryn Kitchen to reclass & attend Virginia
A HighSchoolOT All-State girls basketball selection will play for the Virginia Cavaliers. Kamryn Kitchen, a 5-foot-9 guard from Independence High School in Charlotte, committed to Virginia on Wednesday.
Kitchen was originally a member of the class of 2025. She is now set to reclassify to 2024 and join the Cavaliers this summer.
According to ESPN’s HoopGurlz recruiting rankings, the prospect was ranked as the No. 57 player in the country for the class of 2025. She is a 4-star prospect according to ESPN.
Kitchen cooked up 1,171 career varsity points since her freshman season. She made an impressive 200 3-point field goals in her time at Independence. The guard shot 54% from the field as a junior. She also accumulated 313 career rebounds, 276 career assists, and 191 career steals.
She was a First Team All-State selection for HSOT this past season.
The Patriots achieved an overall record of 23-6 during the 2023-24 season. Independence fell in the third round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association’s 4A West playoffs on the road at Marvin Ridge.
