A.C. Reynolds RB Max Guest commits to App State
Appalachian State University’s football program has landed a big in-state commitment for the class of 2025. Max Guest, from A.C. Reynolds High School in Asheville, announced his pledge to the Mountaineers in a post to his X account on Thursday night.
The Mountaineers became the first program to offer Guest in September of 2022. He also picked up verbal offers from East Carolina, Charlotte, UConn, Coastal Carolina, and Old Dominion.
Guest was a star on A.C. Reynolds’ varsity team as a freshman and sophomore, but missed most of his junior season with an injury that occurred in the preseason.
As a freshman, Guest rushed for 820 yards and 11 touchdowns in 11 games. As a sophomore, he exploded for 1,746 yards and 25 touchdowns as the Rockets made a run to the fourth round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A West playoffs.
He played in two games as a junior last fall and rushed for 33 yards and two touchdowns on nine carries.
Overall, Guest has 2,599 rushing yards and 38 rushing touchdowns over his career. His career average is an even six yards per carry. As a receiver, Guest has caught 38 passes for 566 yards and six touchdowns. He also has 683 career return yards and two kickoff return touchdowns.
Guest is technically the second in-state class of 2025 prospect to commit to the Mountaineers, but Williams High School quarterback Dan Mahan backed off his pledge and committed to Duke.
A.C. Reynolds, now a 3A team, is coming off of a 9-4 overall season in which the Rockets reached the third round of the 3A West playoffs. The Rockets compete in the Mountain Athletic 3A/4A Conference.
