Dual-team tennis state championships postponed until Monday due to weather

The N.C. High School Athletic Association has postponed the the dual-team boys tennis state championships due to inclement weather.

Rain and storms this week have caused some rounds of the dual-team playoffs to be delayed, and with more rain in the forecast, it could create additional scheduling conflicts for tennis.

The state championships were scheduled for Saturday at the Burlington Tennis Center, but the championships will be now be held on Monday instead. The event will still take place at the Burlington Tennis Center.

The 1A and 3A state championships will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the coaches meeting at 9 a.m. The 2A and 4A championships will take place at 12:30 p.m. The coaches meeting for the final two classifications is scheduled for 12 p.m.

Saturday’s weather forecast is not promising, with a good chance of rain and the possibility of strong thunderstorms, but Monday’s forecast is much better. According to the National Weather Service, Monday’s forecast is partly sunny with a high of 72 degrees.

The NCHSAA is scheduled to hold the track & field state championship at N.C. A&T and the lacrosse state championships at Durham County Memorial Stadium on Friday and Saturday. Both events are still on as scheduled, according to the association.
