Girls Lacrosse Rankings: Four teams join statewide top 25; Holly Springs earns top-five spot

In this, the eighth edition of the HighSchoolOT girls lacrosse rankings this season, only eight teams have made an appearance in the top five. The latest to join this exclusive group? Holly Springs, which defeated Weddington in a thriller on Friday.

There were considerable rising-and-falling changes made in the top 20 or so positions, with four new teams this week — R.J. Reynolds, First Flight, Northwest Guilford, and Lake Norman — clustered at the bottom.

R.J. Reynolds and First Flight are in the rankings for the first time this year, Northwest Guilford is back after two weeks on the outside, and Lake Norman is back after three weeks. They replace Middle Creek, Willow Spring, Fuquay-Varina, and Croatan.

Rankings reminders:

  • Rankings are updated weekly and released on every Sunday
  • All high schools in the state of North Carolina, excluding athletic training academies, are eligible for the statewide top 25
  • Rankings are paused during the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs
  • Final rankings are released the week after the state championships
