Boys Lacrosse Rankings: Orange, North Lincoln enter statewide top 25 with big changes

The changes tot his week’s HighSchoolOT statewide boys lacrosse rankings are probably best broken up into three parts.

First, the top 10 saw teams rise if they got crucial victories. Cardinal Gibbons did that against Cannon School, while Middle Creek did that to avenge an earlier loss to Holly Springs.

From 10-20, almost every team moved up or down from last week. Athens Drive fell to Broughton the same week Broughton was upset by Leesville Road, causing both to fall. Marvin Ridge held off Ardrey Kell, lifting the Mavericks and some of its opponents.

Then, at the bottom, we get two new teams. Orange, at No. 23, is no stranger to the top 25 and only missed last week. North Lincoln, at No. 24, is ranked for the first time in program history.

Making way for the two newcomers were Charlotte Christian (upset by Charlotte Latin), and Northwest Guilford, both of which fell twice last week.

Rankings reminders:

  • Rankings are updated weekly and released on every Sunday
  • All high schools in the state of North Carolina, excluding athletic training academies, are eligible for the statewide top 25
  • Rankings are paused during the N.C. High School Athletic Association playoffs
  • Final rankings are released the week after the state championships
