Kacy Hintz and Chris Lea are examining the Panthers’ defeat against the Miami Dolphins.

Welcome back to sports extra. Joining us today is Chris Lee. I had hoped that with Chris here, we would be discussing a Panthers victory, but unfortunately that was not the case. However, in the first quarter, the Panthers showed promise with two long drives resulting in two touchdowns. This could potentially be a glimpse of what the Panthers’ offense is capable of. It was great to see Frank Reich’s play calling being effective and keeping the Miami Dolphins on their toes. Despite some setbacks later in the game, the Panthers’ offense looked strong in the first quarter with Bryce Young looking comfortable and well-protected by his offensive line. With Miles Sanders out, Chuba Hubbard stepped up and had a solid performance with 88 rushing yards and the first touchdown of the game. It’s clear that a consistent rushing attack is crucial for the Panthers’ offense and it may even jeopardize Sanders’ starting position when he returns from injury. Overall, Hubbard has been the most impressive running back on the roster. The team will have a bi week to regroup and hopefully get Sanders back to full health, but it seems like Hubbard may take over as RB1.

As for self-scouting, there are a few areas that the Panthers need to address. On offense, they need to improve their protection for Young and limit the number of sacks he takes. The interior part of the offensive line needs to tighten up and Ikey U kno deserves recognition for his solid performance today. On defense, injuries have taken a toll but they still need to work on preventing opponents from scoring too many points. Currently ranked 31st in the league for points allowed, this is an area that Panthers legends would not be proud of. The defense needs to step up and put more pressure on opposing quarterbacks, which will also help out the secondary when facing speedy receivers like Tyreek Hill and Jalen Watto. Overall, there is room for improvement on both sides of the ball and the team will have two weeks to address these issues before their next game against the Texans on October 29th.
