On Friday, in the first round of the women’s NCAA Tournament, Duke came back in the second half to defeat Richmond 72-61 with Reigan Richardson scoring 25 points and grabbing seven rebounds.

Duke, the 7th seed with a record of 21-11, will face Ohio State on Sunday. This comes after Ohio State’s 80-57 victory over Maine in the first round of the tournament earlier today.

The Blue Devils fought their way back from a nine-point disadvantage at the half, taking the lead 42-41 with 4:42 remaining in the third quarter and maintaining control until the end.

Duke’s Ashlon Jackson scored 14 points, while Kennedy Brown contributed 10 points.

Grace Townsend led Richmond (29-6) with 18 points, Addie Budnik had 17 and Maggie Doogan added 15.

In the first half, Richmond had a successful 80% 3-point percentage, with Budnik making 4 out of 5 shots and Maggie Doogan sinking 3 out of 4. The team had a 58% overall shooting percentage and was ahead of Duke 37-28 at half-time. However, their performance dropped in the second half where they only made 25% of their 3-point attempts (2 out of 8).
