The ultimate rankings for Boys Indoor Track & Field: Mount Tabor finishes as the top team in the state.

For the third consecutive year, a new boys cross country team has claimed the top spot in the final HighSchoolOT rankings for boys cross country.

The winner of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 4A title this year is Mount Tabor.

The final rankings are determined by compiling data from the N.C. High School Athletic Association championships and the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association invitational, which serves as the unofficial championship. HSOT combines championship times from all classifications and associations to create a comprehensive state meet ranking.

In certain instances, there were equal scores among various categories. To calculate the points, podium ranking was utilized as a tiebreaker (a first-place 1A competitor was given priority over a second-place 4A participant in the same event). If the competitors remained tied, the points were divided between them.

If two teams had the same rank within the top 25, the deciding factor was determined by their placement in their state championship.

Mount Tabor had a two-point lead over East Burke and Weddington, both of which tied for second place as state runners-up. T.W. Andrews, the 1A/2A champion, secured the fourth place with a three-point difference from the leader.

Out of the initial top 25 teams, 16 of them maintained their position in the final top 25 rankings. The team that showed the biggest improvement was T.W. Andrews, starting the year unranked but finishing at No. 4. Mount Tabor, the preseason No. 4 team, also maintained their position in the final rankings.

In addition to Mount Tabor and T.W. Andrews, there are other teams that have won their state championships, such as Croatan at number 12 in the 3A division and Providence Day at number 25 in NCISAA D1. Coastal Christian, the champion in NCISAA D2/D3, did not receive a ranking.
