According to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, Duke’s men’s basketball team has acquired a commitment from Khaman Maluach, a 7-foot-2 center.

Maluach participated in the NBA Academy Africa in Senegal. He is originally from South Sudan.

According to ESPN, he is predicted to be selected as the third overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.

Maluach is set to become a member of a highly skilled group of students at Duke, consisting of Cooper Flagg, ranked as ESPN’s top recruit, as well as Isaiah Evans, Patrick Ngongba, Kon Knueppel, and Darren Harris.

According to Givony, Maluach looked into attending Duke, Kentucky, Kansas, and UCLA during his recruitment process. He also received offers from the G League Ignite and the Australian NBL’s Next Stars program.

At only 16 years old, Maluach contributed to South Sudan securing a spot in the Paris Olympics happening this summer. He is now one of the youngest players to play in the FIBA World Cup.

Maluach received the Most Valuable Player award at the NBA’s Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Africa camp last summer. He was also named MVP for both the playoffs and defense at the BWB Global camp, which took place in Indianapolis during All-Star Weekend last month.
