The North Pitt girls’ team defeated Southeast Alamance in the second round of the 2A basketball playoffs, advancing to the third round.

During the second round of the N.C. High School Athletic Association 2A girls basketball game on Friday, there were instances where it appeared that underdog Southeast Alamance had thoroughly researched the top-ranked North Pitt team.

The Stallions executed their halfcourt offense flawlessly and gained opportunities for easy layups. The opposing team seemed to have openings.

Next, the open spaces were eliminated and a player from North Pitt entered to forcefully clear it from the back.

Playing against the Panthers in life can be tough, as they advanced to the third round with a commanding 86-62 victory.

North Pitt (25-3) defeated the first-year Stallions (20-8) and will now play against Nash Central on Tuesday. They had a comfortable lead of 41-24 at halftime, thanks to their strong start in the first quarter with a score of 22-8.

N.C. State recruit Zamareya Jones had 35 in the win for the top-seeded Panthers, while Southeast Alamance — a team with no seniors or juniors — got 24 points from Shaniya Paylor.
