After years of searching, GRACE Christian of Raleigh has finally won the elusive volleyball championship.

The Eagles, who have been runner-up twice before, were victorious in the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 3A championship on Saturday. They defeated conference rival Wake Christian with a score of 3-0 (25-10, 25-22, 25-15).

The Eagles’ defensive skills were showcased as they constantly disrupted the Bulldogs’ plays, leading to a dominant victory in both the first and final sets.

Kate Passey recorded 15 kills and had a .500 hitting percentage in the victorious game. Libero Olivia Campbell contributed 20 digs, while senior setter Olivia Braswell tallied 28 assists and 17 digs.

The Eagles had a record of 23 wins and 3 losses this season, with their only defeats coming from NCISAA 2A runner-up Trinity Academy, St. David’s, and the Cary Crowns homeschool team.

The Wake Christian team finished the year with an overall record of 24-11, with three of those losses attributed to GRACE.
