The San Jose Earthquakes belong to the Western Conference of Major League Soccer. They have been part of the league since 1996 and were victorious in their first MLS Cup in 2001. In that game, the Quakes defeated the renowned Los Angeles Galaxy, but it should be mentioned that they scored the winning goal in extra time.

In 2003, the Quakes were able to achieve the same accomplishment, defeating the Chicago Fire in the MLS Cup final. The San Jose Earthquakes’ home field, Avaya Stadium, can hold up to 18,000 people. The construction of the stadium cost over $100 million and it was officially opened in March of 2015. The team’s primary colors are blue and black, while they wear white and red jerseys with white shorts when playing away games.

Chris Wondolowski is the club’s biggest star and he has been playing for San Jose Earthquakes since 2009. The USA ace has 121 league goals on his account ahead of the start of the 2017 season.
