Kage Williams from Robbinsville High School has achieved a remarkable feat by becoming the 13th wrestler in NCHSAA history to win four consecutive state championships.
Kage Williams, a senior from Robbinsville, achieved a fourth consecutive wrestling championship at the N.C. High School Athletic Association on Saturday, joining the ranks of only 13 other wrestlers in state history to accomplish this feat.
Later in the evening, Cameron Stinson from Mallard Creek has the opportunity to become the 14th person to join him.
Williams claimed victory by pinning Camron Cook from Mitchell High School at the 3-minute mark in the 190-pound 1A championship match, capping off his last season with an undefeated record of 37 wins.
Williams has only suffered one defeat in his career, which was due to an injury default in a tournament during his sophomore year. It should be noted that this loss should have an asterisk next to it because the current rules were not in effect during his sophomore year and the injury default would not have been counted against his record (as the injury occurred in a previous round).
His official record for the past four years is 165 wins and 1 loss.
