Jillian Schrimper from Rocky Mount is skilled both on the court, where she is analytical, and off the court, where she is artistic. She recently won the Extra Effort Award.

The surname “Schrimper” holds significance at Rocky Mount High School.

Paul Holloman, the honored science teacher at Rocky Mount, acknowledged that the credit for her success should also go to her parents and family for their upbringing. He also acknowledged the role of her siblings in contributing to her achievements.

Holloman has instructed each of the five Schrimper siblings, including the youngest and current senior, Jillian.

Holloman stated that she excels at assisting others in an academic setting, which he believes is indicative of her intelligence and academic prowess.

Jillian has a GPA of 4.6 on a weighted scale, is currently enrolled in courses at Nash Community College, and holds the position of vice president in Rocky Mount’s National Honor Society.

Scarlett Schrimper, Jillian’s older sister, shared, “I believe she admires us and enjoys our company as we spend a significant amount of time together.”

Jillian inherited her love for tennis from her siblings.

“I enjoyed taking tennis lessons when I was younger,” Jillian shared. “Although I didn’t play in middle school, I was inspired by my siblings playing in high school and decided to give it a try.”

“I have no reword”

During this season, Jillian held the No. 6 spot on Lawrence Jr.’s team, but her contribution was crucial to their success in winning the conference championship. Lawrence Jr. cannot recall a time when she lost a regular season match.

Lawrence Jr. described her as being analytical, able to identify what others may not like and provide them with copious amounts of it. She knows her limitations and stays within her abilities, which has led to her consistent success.

She possesses a strong analytical mindset, but she also displays artistic abilities.

Jillian mentioned that she has been dancing for approximately fifteen years as she took a few practice swings. She also shared that her coach’s go-to instruction is to move, which comes naturally to her due to her daily footwork in dance.

Jillian can often be found on stage when she’s not playing tennis or attending classes. She began participating in community theater at eight years old and has now transitioned to acting in television and movies.

“I have had the opportunity to be an extra in a few productions,” Jillian mentioned. “One of them is a movie that will be released this summer, and it’s quite thrilling.”

This supporting actor is finally getting the spotlight.

“This is a surprise,” Lawrence Jr. said to the tennis team who had gathered around the Rocky Mount cafeteria after school. “This is the Tom Suiter Extra Effort award and it’s going to Jillian Schrimper.”

Jillian expressed her surprise upon receiving the award, stating that she puts in a lot of effort and was happy to have it acknowledged.

Jillian expressed her desire to be remembered for her support and assistance to others. She strives to always give her best effort in everything she does.
