In 1908, a football club called Wilhemina was established at the pub De Vereeniging. They wore blue-sleeved red shirts and white shorts for their home games. The club was renamed Hillesluise in 1909 and later became known as RVV Celeritas.

In 1912, the club was officially named SC Feijenoord. In 1924, Feyenoord achieved their first Eredivisie title and 75 years later, they secured their 14th domestic trophy, with a 15-point lead over second-placed Willem II. The team, known as “De Trots van Zuid,” plays their home games at De Kuip stadium, which can hold up to 51,117 spectators.

The club’s biggest competitors are Ajax and the two sides compete in the famous match known as der Klassieker. Prominent figures such as Craig Bellamy, Gerrard Fox, Wouter Bos, and Raemon Sluiter are known to support the club. It is widely recognized that football icons Johan Cruyff, Ruud Gullit, and Peter Houtman all once played for Feyenoord. The Pride of the South play their home matches wearing red and white shirts with black shorts.
