On Tuesday night, North Carolina State came back from being down by 11 points in the second half to defeat Wake Forest 83-76, with DJ Horne scoring 21 points.

The Wolfpack from N.C. State scored six points from free throws and Horne added a jump shot in an 8-0 run that gave them a 73-69 advantage with 1:50 left. After Wake Forest’s Andrew Carr made a three-point play to bring the score to 73-72, Ben Middlebrooks responded with a layup and the Wolfpack went on to make 8 out of 9 free throws to secure the win.

Horne had a 9-for-19 shooting performance. Middlebrooks had a perfect record, making all five of his field goals and all four free throws, resulting in 14 points. Jayden Taylor contributed 12 points and DJ Burns Jr. scored 10 for N.C. State (13-4, 5-1 ACC). The team shot 54% (29 of 54) from the field and made 76% (25 of 33) of its free throws, but missed all eight 3-point attempts.

Carr scored 19 of his career-high 28 points in the first half to lead for Wake Forest (12-5, 4-2). Carr was 10-of-13 shooting with three 3-pointers. Kevin Miller added 21 points, shooting just 3 of 12 from the field but 15 of 15 from the line.

In the second half, Hunter Sallis scored a total of 12 points and went on a five-point streak, increasing the Demon Deacons’ lead to 60-49.

N.C. State scored five points during a 12-2 streak which reduced the gap to 62-61 with 5:39 left. Carr added another five points in a 7-4 burst that widened the margin to 69-65 with 3:46 remaining before the Wolfpack secured the win.

The Wake Forest team had a 12-point advantage in the first half and entered halftime with a score of 45-35. They had a 54% shooting percentage initially, but it dropped to 33% in the second half.

Both teams have Saturday home games. Wake Forest will be playing against Louisville while N.C. State will be facing Virginia Tech.
