All teams in the state, regardless of their affiliation, have the chance to be included in the HSOT Top 25 rankings. In the final Top 25 of 2023, Weddington was awarded the first place position.
In the latest area code standings, Northeastern claimed the top spot in the 252 region, followed by Reidsville in the 336, Weddington in the 704, Hickory in the 828, Seventy-First in the 910, and Cardinal Gibbons in the 919.

2023 NCHSAA State Champions
4A Classification
Weddington High School, the 4A champion, defeated Hoggard High School, the 4A runner-up, by a score of 56 to 21.
3A Classification
Hickory, the 3A champion, scored 33 points while Seventy-First, the 3A runner-up, scored 26 points.
2A Classification
Reidsville, the 2A champion, defeated Clinton, the 2A runner-up, by a score of 28 to 18.
1A Classification
Mount Airy, the champion of 1A, scored 21 points while Tarboro, the runner-up, scored 3 points in the game.
2023 NCHSAA Regional Finals
Hoggard beat Cardinal Gibbons 41-20 in the 4A East Final, becoming the regional champion while Cardinal Gibbons was the runner-up.
Weddington won the regional championship game against Independence with a score of 34-14.
At the 3A East Final, Seventy-First was declared the regional champion with a score of 50, while Northern Nash came in second with a score of 36.
In the 3A West Final, Hickory emerged as the regional champion with a score of 42, narrowly defeating Dudley who finished as the regional runner-up with a score of 41.
Clinton won the 2A East Final as regional champion with a score of 36, defeating Northeastern, the regional runner-up, who scored 22 points.
In the West Final, Reidsville claimed the regional championship with a score of 49, defeating Shelby who came in as the regional runner-up with a score of 14.
In the Eastern 1A Championship, Tarboro, the regional champion, defeated West Columbus, the regional runner-up, with a score of 49-12.
In the Western regional final, Mount Airy emerged as the champion with a score of 27, defeating runner-up Robbinsville who scored 16 points.
