Quaker Oats has increased their recall of granola bars and cereals due to the potential risk of salmonella contamination.
The Quaker Oats Company has expanded their recall from December to include 24 more varieties of granola bars, cereals, and snacks due to potential salmonella contamination.
On Thursday, the company, which is a subsidiary of PepsiCo., declared an additional recall in both the United States and Canada.
The updated recall involves Quaker Chewy Granola Bars and Cereals, Cap’n Crunch Bars and certain cereals, Gamesa Marias Cereal, Gatorade Peanut Butter Chocolate Protein Bars, Munchies Munch Mix, and snack boxes containing these items.
As of Friday, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has received 24 reports of negative occurrences associated with the initially recalled products. However, there have been no confirmed cases of illnesses linked to these foods, according to a spokesperson for the agency. These negative occurrences can encompass medical issues, as well as dissatisfaction with the taste, color, packaging, or other non-medical matters, the official explained. The FDA will continue to look into these reports.
Infections caused by Salmonella can result in symptoms such as fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and stomach pain. In extreme cases, these bacterial infections can lead to death.
Consumers should inspect their pantries for any of the listed products and dispose of them. The company’s recall website contains further information and instructions for reimbursement.
