The Carolina Hurricanes defeated the Anaheim Ducks 6-3 on Thursday night, extending their points streak to seven games. Despite losing their goalie in the second period, Seth Jarvis contributed a goal and two assists.

Jordan Martinook and Stefan Noesen both recorded one goal and one assist, while Brady Skjei, Andrei Svechnikov, and Jack Drury each found the back of the net. Teuvo Teravainen contributed two assists to the team’s goals.

Jarvis commented, “It was quite pleasant. We were soaring through the air.”

At a tie score of 3-3, the Hurricanes substituted their goalie with 6:04 remaining in the second period after Pyotr Kochetkov was knocked over by Isac Lundestrom in a crowded net. Only 34 seconds after the change, Noesen scored to put Carolina in the lead, and Drury’s power-play goal extended their lead to 5-3.

Kotchetkov left the game due to an upper-body injury after making 10 saves on 13 shots. Antti Raanta came in as a substitute and made three saves.

Raanta stated that the only concern to focus on is the initial or subsequent shot.

Lundestrom, Ryan Strome, and Frank Vatrano each scored a goal for the Ducks. The team started their five-game road trip with a victory against Nashville two nights prior. John Gibson made 21 saves on 26 shots in the first two periods, and Lukas Dostal took over in the third period and stopped eight shots.

After a four-day break, Carolina had 35 shots compared to the Ducks’ 16. This was the lowest number of shots the Ducks have had this season.

Anaheim coach Greg Cronin stated that their team struggled to get shots on goal due to the opponent’s skill at blocking shots. This lack of offensive opportunities made it difficult for the team to gain momentum, resulting in a difficult game.

The Hurricanes were the first to take 12 shots on goal, but it wasn’t until their 13th try that they were able to score. Skjei scored his seventh goal of the season.

In a span of 15 seconds, Carolina scored goals on consecutive shots. Svechnikov secured his 10th goal, marking his eighth goal in the past seven games.

Lundestrom scored his first goal of the season in his fifth game, only 25 seconds into the second period.

“It’s been quite some time,” Lundestrom stated. “Around four or five games now, and I’m starting to get the hang of it.”

Carolina replied after 1 minute and 28 seconds when Martinook, who was playing in his 600th NHL game, skated through the center and scored off a pass from Jarvis. This was Martinook’s third goal of the season and his second in the last four games.

Martinook expressed his gratitude and joy for playing 600 games, stating that it was a significant achievement for him.

During the second period, Strome and Vatrano scored within 45 seconds of each other, tying the score at 3-3 for the Ducks. Vatrano currently leads the team with 20 goals.

Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour praised the response to their opponent’s push, stating it was a strong answer.

Prior to the match, the Ducks made a statement that Trevor Zegras, who has a fractured left ankle, and Pavel Mintyukov, who has a separated shoulder, may be absent for nearly two months due to injuries sustained on Tuesday evening.
