Last Wednesday, Becerra acknowledged that there have been anecdotal reports of individuals having difficulties with their insurance covering the updated shots. He stated that this could be due to technical issues at pharmacies, but that they have since been resolved. Becerra advised those facing issues to reach out to their insurance company. He also addressed a reporter’s question about reports of challenges in obtaining Covid vaccines for young children.
“If it is accessible, it is also accessible for your children. There is no justification for a child to be unable to receive the Covid vaccine,” he stated. Currently, there is no data confirming the availability of the new Covid shots.
Becerra stated that additional details for the general public will be provided soon, as efforts are being made to resume the program as expeditiously as possible.
In December, the partnership between the federal government and the U.S. Postal Service was reinstated, providing households with the opportunity to receive four complimentary Covid-19 tests for at-home use. The program had previously been put on hold in June in order to conserve the limited supply of Covid tests and due to the stabilization of Covid hospitalizations.
The free testing program has been restarted due to an increase in Covid hospitalizations over the past few months.
