Before holiday tournaments, six teams have been added to the HSOT Top 25 boys basketball rankings.

There are six additional teams included in the latest HSOT statewide Top 25 rankings, just before the start of Christmas tournaments in North Carolina.

The most recent additions to the statewide rankings include Weddington, Burlington Christian, High Point Christian, Wakefield, Bertie, and Bandys.

Last week, The Burlington School, Davidson Day, South Garner, Hopewell, Caldwell Academy, and Patton all suffered losses and have been removed from the rankings for this week.

The rankings for HSOT’s area codes, particularly 828 and 704, have undergone significant changes.

These are some details about the methodology behind our rankings for boys’ basketball:

  • The rankings are refreshed every week and made public on Mondays.

  • All high schools in North Carolina, except for athletic training academies, are qualified for the top 25 rankings in the state.

  • The state’s six area codes have a separate top 15, which is updated weekly.

  • During the playoffs for the N.C. High School Athletic Association, the rankings will be put on hold.

  • The final rankings will be published one week after the state championships.
