No. 24 Apex Friendship gets Green Level back with shutout win
CARY, N.C. – Apex Friendship’s journey through a loaded Southwest Wake Athletic Conference ends in a second-place finish.
Briella Boetcher scored in the 46th minute to help the Patriots defeat Green Level, 1-0.
The victory avenges a 2-0 home loss to the Gators on April 14. Boetcher’s game-winner was her 19th goal of the season and 37th over her successful four-year career.
The Patriots have now posted a clean sheet in seven matches this season. They are 15-5-2 overall and finish 11-2-1 in league play.
Green Level is 14-6 and 10-4 in the SWAC.
Ranked No. 24 in this week’s HighSchoolOT statewide poll, Apex Friendship entered the day projected as a 16-seed in Monday’s NCHSAA 4A playoffs. At the time of the last projection, the Patriots were slated to host the 17-seed Gators in another rematch.
