Duke snags commitment from top transfer Cedric Coward :: WRALSportsFan.com

Washington State transfer Cedric Coward was considered one of the top players in the transfer portal and arrived at Duke for an official visit on Monday. The same day Coward decided he’d stay at Duke, if he continues to play college basketball, committing to the Blue Devils on his Instagram page.

Coward led the Washington State Cougars in scoring this past season at 17.7 points per game. The 6’6″ guard was also efficient, averaging 40 percent from beyond the three-point line.

However, Coward may not officially play at Duke. He’d already declared for the NBA Draft and says he will keep his name in the Draft Process, giving him the flexibility to go pro or collect information and return to college to play at Duke.

The Fresno, California, native began his college career at Division III Willamette University. He transferred to Division I Eastern Washington for two seasons before playing for Washington State this past year.

Coward is Duke’s only transfer committed at the moment. The Blue Devils are returning five rotational players, with three five-star freshmen expected to join next season.
