Despite being early in the year, the performance of Mallard Creek’s girls basketball team on Friday at home could have significant consequences in the future.

The Mavericks dominated in a 67-51 victory against North Mecklenburg, maintaining their position as conference leaders going into the Christmas break.

Lili Booker, a new addition to Longwood’s team, scored 32 points to guide Mallard Creek (8-2, 3-0) to victory. The team also received contributions from Elle Stone, a former all-state player who scored 12 points, and Alana Biosse, who added 11 points. Olivia Robertson contributed five points and an impressive 10 blocks to the team’s success.

Lenise Joseph led North Mecklenburg with 18 points, but none of the other players scored in double digits.
