The spring football transfer portal window opened April 16 and players will be able to enter the portal until April 25.
Here is a look at players coming and going from North Carolina, NC State and Duke.
North Carolina
The Tar Heels finished their first spring practice under new coach Bill Belichick on April 12. The Tar Heels went 6-7 in 2024 under coach Mack Brown.
DE Beau Atkinson: Atkinson, 6-foot-6, 255 pounds, played in 26 games over the last two seasons for the Tar Heels. He had 7.5 sacks in 2024 and 11 for his career. Atkinson, who is from Raleigh, was considered the Tar Heels’ best returning defensive player.
LB Crews Law: Law played in two games as a true freshman in 2024 (vs. Charlotte and NC Central). He was ranked as the No. 23 linebacker in the nation coming out of high school.
LB Cade Law: Law played aseball at Vanderbilt for one season before transferring to UNC to play football. He appeared in 11 games in 2023, mostly on special teams, and 12 games in 2024, according to his UNC bio. He had two tackles, including a sack in the Fenway Bowl.
DB Zion Ferguson: Ferguson, a four-star prospect out of high school in Georgia, played one game as a true freshman 2024, according to his UNC bio.
OL Zach Rice: Rice, a five-star prospect who was considerde the No. 1 offensive tackle in his class, played three seasons with the Tar Heels. He appeared in two games in 2022, 12 in 2023 and the first six games of 2024, according to his UNC bio.
DE Malaki Hamrick: Hamrick spent three years in the UNC program and played in all 13 games as a true freshman in 2022. On3 reported that he has entered the portal.
K/P Lucas Osada: Osada kicked off in four games in 2024, his true freshman season. “I have decided to enter the transfer portal as a kicker punter combo with 3 years of eligibility. Much thanks to Carolina, I look forward to what God has in store for me!” Osada wrote.
QB Ryan Browne: Browne, who transferred into the program in December and was among two quarterbacks to get reps during team portions of the public final spring practice, is transferring again, according to On3.
WR Gavin Blackwell: Blackwell played four seasons at UNC, playing in 28 games. He caught 31 passes for 448 yards and one touchdown in his career.
LB Mikai Gbayor (coming to UNC): Gbayor played 25 games at Nebraska over three years, including one game in 2022 and 12 in 2023 (four starts) and 2024 (11 starts). He transferred to Missouri in December. He had 73 tackles over the last two seasons. Gbaylor announced his move on social media.
NC State
NC State, which has a new offensive and new defensive coordinator, closed all of its practices this spring and did not hold a spring game. The Wolfpack went 6-7 in 2024 under coach Dave Doeren.
WR Decari Collins: Collins played 24 games for NC State, catching 38 passes for 526 yards and four touchdowns over the last two seasons.
RB Kendrick Raphael: Raphael played 23 games for NC State, rushing 145 times for 734 yards and four touchdowns over the last two seasons.
Duke
Duke will conclude its spring practice with a spring game on Saturday, April 19. The Blue Devils went 9-4 under first-year coach Manny Diaz in 2024.
