Here’s what NC State must pay App State for moving its scheduled 2025 football game :: WRALSportsFan.com

NC State will pay App State $300,000 for moving a football game scheduled for 2025 in Boone, according to terms of a new agreement between the schools.
The 2025 game has been moved to Sept. 30, 2028, in Boone. The teams are scheduled to play on Sept. 26, 2026, in Raleigh. The new contract between NC State and App State, obtained by WRAL, was signed and completed in February.
The new contract includes a $2.5-million cancellation penalty. If the scheduled games cannot be played due to a change in conference affiliation or scheduling requirements, they would have to work in good faith to reschedule the game. If the game cannot be scheduled within seven years, the penalty would be $450,000.
The teams scheduled a home-and-home series in 2021 with games set for Sept. 6, 2025, in Boone and Sept. 26, 2026, in Raleigh. NC State will play a non-conference game against fellow ACC member Virginia instead.
The 2021 contract called for a $500,000 payment if the cancellation was three years before the scheduled game or a $750,000 payment if the game was canceled within two years.
App State will play Lindenwood University, an FCS school, on Sept. 6, 2025. App State has nonconference games at Charlotte (Aug. 29) and at Boise State (Sept. 27) and home against Oregon State (Oct. 4).
NC State hosts East Carolina (Aug. 28), Virginia (Sept. 6), Campbell (Oct. 4) and visits Notre Dame (Oct. 11) in nonconference this season.
