Grayson McCall, the quarterback for Coastal Carolina, has committed to play for NC State.
On Wednesday, on social media, Grayson McCall, who was a three-time Sun Belt Player of the Year at Coastal Carolina, revealed that he will be transferring to NC State for the 2024 season.
McCall, a North Carolina native, achieved a 70% completion rate and threw for a total of 10,005 yards with the Chanticleers. However, he was unable to finish the last five games of the 2023 season due to a head injury, despite starting the first seven games.
During his time as the starting quarterback, Coastal Carolina had a record of 38-11 (including a 7-5 record in 2023) and has qualified for the Hawaii Bowl. McCall had an impressive 88 touchdowns and only 14 interceptions while playing for Coastal. In 2023, the head coach at Coastal Carolina was Tim Beck, who previously served as the offensive coordinator at NC State.
NC State was in need of a quarterback as their current starter, Brennan Armstrong, will no longer be eligible to play after this season. Additionally, MJ Morris, who started four games this year, has entered the transfer portal.
After the 2022 season, McCall utilized the transfer portal but ultimately chose to come back to Coastal.
On December 28th, NC State (9-3) will face off against Kansas State in the Pop-Tarts Bowl, held in Orlando.
