The N.C. High School Athletic Association has released the final conferences for the first realignment into eight classifications.

Here are our early name ideas for the newly created leagues.

Our one rule was to not include the number of teams in the conference name. We’re expecting more frequent changes to the conferences now we’re up to eight classifications. We don’t want to have a Big Ten, Big 12, or PAC-12 situation in which the numbers in the title no longer matches up with the number of teams.

There are 20 different types of conferences by classification. Of the 64 total conferences, only 10 are made up of schools from a single classification. There are 54 split classification conferences.
