Trinity picks former NE Guilford coach Mark Raynor to lead football program

Mark Raynor is back as a head football coach.

On Wednesday, Trinity High School in Randolph County announced that it has hired Raynor to replace the vacancy left by Bear Bradley. He will begin at the end of March.

Raynor is a class of 2006 graduate of Trinity.

The coach was previously was the head coach at Northeast Guilford High School. He spent the 2024 season as an assistant at Southern Guilford after he stepped down from the Rams’ program.

Northeast Guilford hired Raynor to coach the team ahead of the 2020-2021 pandemic season. After an okay start, Raynor had the Rams improve to a 7-4 record and an N.C. High School Athletic Association 3A playoff appearance in 2023, his final season there. His overall record in his first head coaching stint was 13-25.

Overall, Raynor has 16 years of coaching experience.

Trinity is coming off of a 3-7 season. The Bulldogs dropped three games by one score or less.

With an average daily membership of 673 students this school year, Trinity will become a 3A program when the NCHSAA realigns into eight classifications later this year.

In the third draft of new conferences, the Bulldogs were placed in a 3A-only league with East Davidson, Providence Grove, Thomasville, West Davidson, and Wheatmore.
