NCHSAA winter sports championships return to same locations in 2025
All of the N.C. High School Athletic Association winter sports state championships will be played at the same venues as last season.
The NCHSAA announced the championship locations for the 2025 championships on Friday morning. Winter state championships will be held in February and March, but some postseason events begin in January.
The swimming & diving state championships will be he ld first, beginning on Feb. 5 and running through Feb. 8. The diving championships will be held at the Pullen Aquatic Center in Raleigh, while the swimming championships will take place at the nearby Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary.
Diving championships will begin with the 4A competition on Feb. 5, the 3A championship will follow on Feb. 6, and the 1A/2A championship will take place on Feb. 7. Swimming swimming championships begin one day later. The 4A swimming championship is on Feb. 6, the 3A swimming championship is on Feb. 7, and the 1A/2A swimming championship is on Feb. 8.
Qualifiers for the swimming & diving state championships will be determined at regionals on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. The West Regional will take place at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center, the Central Regional will be held at the Greensboro Aquatic Center, and the East Regional will be held at the Triangle Aquatic Center and Pullen Aquatic Center.
Boys dual-team wrestling state championships will be held on Feb. 8 at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex Fieldhouse. The 1A & 3A matches will take place at 12 p.m., followed by the 2A & 4A championships at 3 p.m. Brackets for the dual-team playoffs will be released on Jan. 30.
The dual-team wrestling championships have been held at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex since 2018.
The individual wrestling state championships for both boys and girls will be held at the Greensboro Coliseum. The tournament begins on Feb. 20 and runs through Feb. 22.
Indoor track & field state championships will return to the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, which has played host to the championships since 2013. The 1A/2A championships will be held on Feb. 14. The 3A championship will take place in the morning on Feb. 15, followed by the 4A championship that afternoon.
For the second straight year, the boys & girls basketball regional and state championships will return to Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum on the campus of Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem. The event will take place Mar. 10-15. Regional championships will be held the first four days, with state championship on Mar. 14 and Mar. 15.
Winners of games on Monday and Tuesday will play again on Friday, while winners of Wednesday’s and Thursday’s games will play on Saturday. Game times and which classifications will play on which day will be announced later.
The NCHSAA will release ticket information for all winter championships at a later date. All state championships will also be available for streaming through the NFHS Network.
